Deep Winter is the season reminiscent of dark nights when the shining stars contrast with the black and blue sky, creating an atmosphere of mystery and magic.  It is a time of deep sleep, hibernation, dreaming, darkness, shadows, spirits,  nocturnal animals, fire, stories, aurora lights, starry skies, short days, rain, storms and regrowth.

Deep Winter is a visual arts exhibition and installation created by leading West Australian visual artists – Katrina Barber, Greg Barr, Mathew Clark, Jane Ryan and Amanda White. All the lead artists experience intellectual disability and all use diverse practices in the creation of their works.

The exhibition evolves out of collaborative workshops that enable each artist to create art works through industry mentorships. The show is a celebration of the stories, skills and voices of a diverse collection of Fremantle-based WA artists.

Curated by Kate Leslie and Susie Waller.
