2014 As We Are Art Award – Call for Entries Now Open!
Entries for the Act-Belong-Commit 2014 As We Are Art Award are currently open!
The As We Are Art Award is a state-wide annual art award and exhibition open to all Western Australian artists who have an intellectual disability (aged 18+). Entries can be in any art medium, though works are limited in size and weight: 1m x 1m and up to 5kg for two-dimensional works, and 0.5m3 and up to 10kg for three-dimensional works. In 2014 Artists are allowed to submit up to two entries, with all entries submitted the artists’ original works and produced in the 12-month period prior to the entry closing date.
Entry is a two-part process: firstly, entrants are required to submit a completed entry form , and secondly, entrants are required to deliver their art works approximately three weeks later (see ‘Key Dates’ section below).

This year’s exhibition is being held at the prestigious Central Park Building Foyer (152-158 St George’s Terrace, Perth). Click here to download a copy of the exhibition poster.
There are six art award categories and respective prizes, with all entries judged by a professional, independent judging panel:
- Rosalind Lewis Award, Prize $500
- David Guhl Award for Artistic Excellence, Prize $500
- Stephen Delower Memorial 3D Award, Prize $500 (3D entries only)
- Aurenda Art Award, Prize $500
- Nulsen Reconciliation Action Plan Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award, Prize $500 (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrants only), and the
- People’s Choice Award, Prize $500 (as voted by the public).
The judges will also award a number of Certificate of High Commendations.
All participating artists and their support network are invited and highly encouraged to attend the exhibition opening and award presentation night. This is a fun and celebratory evening, with music, drinks and nibbles and a good time is had by all. Many of the art works sold occurs on the opening night, and buyers along with the general public really enjoy the opportunity of meeting with the artists.
Key 2014 Dates:
Entries forms due: 5.00pm Friday 3rd October 2014 (please note incomplete and late entry forms will not be accepted)
Delivery of art work: 10.00am – 12.00pm Monday 27th October 2014 (delivery to the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park)
Exhibition opening and award presentation night: 6.00 – 8.00pm, Saturday 1st November 2014 (Central Park Building Foyer)
Exhibition opening hours: Sunday 2nd until Friday 14th November, for the following times:
Sunday: 11.00am- 3.00pm
Monday – Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Collection of sold (purchaser) and unsold (artist) art work: 4.00pm – 6.00pm, Friday 14th November 2014, Central Park Building Foyer (152-158 St George’s Terrace, Perth)
