2021 As We Are Art Awards – Entries Now Open!

The annual As We Are Art Awards are a state-wide art award and exhibition open to all Western Australian artists with intellectual disability (aged 18+).

Entries can be in any art medium, though works are limited in size and weight: 1m x 1m and up to 5kg for two-dimensional works, and 0.5m3 and up to 10kg for three-dimensional works.  In 2021, artists will be invited to submit one entry, with all entries submitted the artists’ original works and produced in the 12-month period prior to the entry closing date.

For the fourth year running, the 2021 exhibition is being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth, in their Level 2 Main Foyer.

Entry is a two-part process. Firstly, entrants are required to submit a completed Entry Form, and secondly, entrants are required to deliver their artworks approximately three weeks later (see ‘Key Dates’ section below).

In 2021 there will be eight art award categories, each with a respective cash prize of $1,000, with all entries judged by a professional, independent visual arts panel:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrants only)
  • Contemporary Art Award
  • David Guhl Award for Artistic Excellence
  • Patti Ferber Creative Development Award
  • Regional Art Award (Regional entrants only)
  • Rosalind Lewis Award
  • Stephen Delower Memorial 3D Award (3D entries only)
  • People’s Choice Award (as voted by the public)

The judges will also award up to ten Certificates of High Commendations for outstanding entries.

Entry Forms Due: 5pm Friday 8th October 2021.  Please note incomplete and late entry forms will not be accepted.

Delivery of Artwork: 1-4pm, Tuesday 26th October 2021, Level 2 Main Foyer, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth

Regional entrants can also deliver their artwork between 9am-2pm, Monday 11th to Friday 15th October 2021 to one of following six Activ regional offices:
