Entries for the 2018 As We Are Art Award open mid August and close 5pm 1st October 2018
Exhibition opening and award presentation night will be on 6 – 8pm, Saturday 27th October 2018, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth.

The annual As We Are Art Award is a state-wide art award and exhibition open to all Western Australian artists who have an intellectual disability (aged 18+). Entries can be in any art medium, though works are limited in size and weight: 1m x 1m and up to 5kg for two-dimensional works, and 0.5m3 and up to 10kg for three-dimensional works. In 2018, artists are invited to submit one entry, with all entries submitted the artists’ original works and produced in the 12-month period prior to the entry closing date.
This year’s exhibition is being held at the prestigious Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth.
Entries for the 2018 As We Are Art Award will be open mid August. Entry is a two-part process: firstly, entrants are required to submit a completed entry form, and secondly, entrants are required to deliver their artworks approximately three weeks later (see ‘Key Dates’ section below).
Entry forms will be posted out along with conditions of entry in mid August and available here.
There are seven art award categories, each with a respective cash prize of $500, with all entries judged by a professional, independent judging panel:
- Rosalind Lewis Award
- David Guhl Award for Artistic Excellence
- Stephen Delower Memorial 3D Award (3D entries only)
- Contemporary Art Award
- MeloVelo Regional Art Award (Regional entrants only)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrants only), and the
- People’s Choice Award (as voted by the public)
The judges will also award a number of Certificate of High Commendations for outstanding entries.
All participating artists and their support network are invited and highly encouraged to attend the exhibition opening and award presentation night. This is a fun and celebratory evening, with music, drinks and nibbles and a good time is had by all. The majority of sales historically have happened on the opening night, and buyers along with the general public really enjoy the opportunity of meeting with the artists.
